Ways to Make a Taper Candle Stand Straight in a Holder
It's very common for taper candles not to fit candle holders. There are many reasons for this but mostly it is because of the many different manufacturers producing both candles and candle holders and their sizing will vary.
If you have a taper candle and candle holder that are just not a good fit for each other there are some very easy ways to fix them with items you most likely have in your kitchen already. Here is a list of things you can use to make your taper candles fit the holder better:
- Use Aluminum Foil or Clear Kitchen Cling Wrap
Cut a strip of tin foil or cling wrap about 1/2 inches wide and about 4 inches long. The length you need may be longer if there is a lot of extra space in your holder. Fold the tin foil or cling wrap in half long ways so now you have a strip 1/4 inches wide and 4 inches long. Wrap the foil/cling around the base of the taper. The amount you use will depend on the amount of space you need to fill to secure your taper candle in an upright position.
- Use Masking Tape
Same method as above, wrap masking tape around base until it securely fits in the candle holder. Never leave lit candles unattended.
- Melt Candle Wax in Base
Another common application is to light your candle and let the wax drip into the candle holder. Then while the wax is still liquid, put the taper candle in the holder and hold it in an upright position until the melted wax in the bottom cools.
- Shave or a small amount of wax off the bottom circumference ( Sides ) of the candle.
